Welcome to Let’s Love Local, a little website built around the firm belief that no one should ever have to whine (or hear someone else whining) I have nothing to do today.

Let’s be real: I’m a twenty-something living in the Midwest (Indianapolis, Indiana, to be exact). You might think I’d be bored out of my mind but I have more ideas than time about how to become a badass Midwest Explorer.

So let’s get one thing straight: this blog is for you. Yes, you.

The you who wants a life full of adventure without spending oodles on plane tickets or quitting the 9-5 job you need to pay rent. You love travel inspiration, but can’t relate to travel bloggers in a new city every two days. Let’s Love Local is for you.

Let’s Love Local was created to provide offbeat inspiration for local travel, whether you’re waiting in-between flights, sitting on a near-zero bank account, or simply enjoying home’s creature comforts. From easy, low-cost challenges to stories of local adventures, Let’s Love Local is ready to put together some simple ideas so you can discover what’s amazing about where you are, no matter where you are.

About the author

I’m Polly, an ESL teacher, author, and freelance travel writer who somewhat inexplicably turned into an Indiana travel blogger. I’m not a Hoosier by birth (I’d only been in Indy one day before deciding to move), but LLL is here to show there’s amazing adventures to be had, even in the Midwest!

Let’s Love Local was born out of sheer necessity after I went from living abroad for five years in one of the biggest, most dynamic cities in the world (Moscow, Russia) to the USA with my Russian husband in tow. While it was our choice to make the move to the States, I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed I was living somewhere so normal.

How was I going to continue my work as a travel blogger and freelance writer if I wasn’t in an exotic location? Screw that – how was I going to enjoy life if I wasn’t in an exotic location?

Turns out, it’s not that hard. We’re just going to have to get creative. If you’re ready to take on the challenge of embracing local adventures, let’s go!
